NEWS BRIEF

ApKmedia recently had the pleasure of working with two rising stars.

+ Jessica Brickman, daughter of Marshall Brickman (Academy Award winning Screenplay writer of Annie Hall and Manhattan w/ Woody Allen) used ApKmediaHQ to film her new short Film, ‘5 Stages of Grief’. Over Memorial Day weekend, a talented small crew of ambitious filmmakers shot on film and designed our space to the specific mood of the piece. We look forward to seeing the project when it nears completion and starts hitting festivals. 

+ We also want you to be on the lookout for the new CREEP video, shot by visionary Warren Fischer, the brain behind Bunker LLC and FischerSpooner. We have never been so closely involved with a project that is so visually inspired. We truly look forward to posting this video when the edit is complete. as always…more to come soon.

+Last Friday night, David Bazan played a sold-out show here at ApKmediaHQ. It was an evening of highly interactive conversation, touching music and inspired performance. We have attached some photos here and we also shot video throughout the show, which we release soon. The idea of performing music in such an intimate setting is so simple, but also very powerful and I imagine that there are few who could have done a better job. Bazan (formerly Pedro the Lion) took requests, spoke to his personal journey of where he is today and he handed over his new record, curse your branches, which is another fine songwriting accomplishment. 

+N*E*R*D_We have delivered two pieces to Interscope Records this week that will serve as promo material for new N*E*R*D record, titled, ‘Nothing’. The first single is a song called ‘Hot&Fun’ and some of you will rub up on members of the opposite (or same) sex this summer when you hear it at a club, and that’s just fine with us…and Pharrell. We mixed media and shot w Modified Bolex Cameras, the ol’ Canon 5D and HVX’s. Thanks to everyone on the ApK posse who joined forces to pull it off, it was well received by the label and the N*E*R*D camp-that makes us feel good, bc those guys are so cool that they wear clothes with Ice cream cones and tiger prints!

+ApKmedia has officially delivered a 15 minute piece to GUESS Footwear that will be shown to all of their retail employees here in these fine United States. That means, if you get a job at a GUESS retail store, we will be an integral part of your training and approach to sales. look for our logo on the DVD when you swipe it from back room.

+Last week our Location Agency pulled off one of those jobs you never forget. Look out for the new Eminem video that’ll release soon for a song called ‘I’m not Afraid’. After being on set and watching playback, I am confident that we accomplished something visually compelling and extremely challenging. Rich Lee is a wonderful Director and a kind soul, and that is how I like to remember that job now that the smoke has cleared. We utilized a team of 5 Location Assistants to pull it off, and we couldn’t have done it without our entire team. Look out for the next video we are working on w the singer of XX and dir. Warren Fischer of Fischerspooner. 

_Thanks to Gaslight Anthem for using our space as a backdrop for the Press for their new album that is about to release in mid-June. I’ll be seeing those dudes at Bonnarroo, along with Stevie Wonder, who won’t be seeing me !!

ApKmedia_Week in Review

+ Today we are linking you to the new video of our HQ in Greenpoint. Brendan H Banks is responsible for shooting and editing this piece and we hope it showcases some of the visual elements of ApKmediaHQ. 

+ We are proud to announce that the David Bazan (Pedro the Lion) show on May 7th at ApKmedia is SOLD OUT. We are truly looking forward the opportunity to have David perform in our space and glad that so many folks were excited to pick up tickets quickly via Undertow.

+ ApKmedia is presently in talks to finalize our first Web-Series and we look forward to confirming that next week. We have been impressed with the gentleman who is the subject of this series and we will be telling you more about it soon!

+ The Kate Nash record ‘My Best Friend is You’, came out this week. ApKmedia created quite a bit of video content around the release of this record. Our Tracklisting piece for the record was added to the Deluxe packaging for the Album and we will be posting the other content when Kate is here to play 2 sold out shows (Apr 29 @ Bowery & May 1 at Wbrg Hall of Music). Pick up her record, the reviews on Itunes are great.

+ Finally, the Big News! On May 1, ApKmedia will be expanding into a second space to facilitate our Editing and Audio interests. We are partnering with a soon to be announced enterprise to begin work on a full length Music Doc/Retrospective film. We are truly dedicated to pushing this company into new and ambitious areas and this secondary space will give us the limitless ability to create.
